Mobile app development for iOS and Android

I build mobile apps from the first sketch to release on the App Store and Google Play, and I maintain them afterwards. Based in Croatia, working with clients in Rijeka, Istria and remotely across the EU.

One developer from idea to store

AV Solutions is me, Viktor Antunović. I build the whole app myself: the screens, the iOS and Android versions, the server and database behind them, and the store release. There is no project manager between you and the person writing the code. When something needs to change, you write or call me directly.

This suits small companies and new products. Decisions are quick, and knowledge of the app does not leave with someone who changed jobs. The person who wrote the app is the one who maintains it.

What a mobile app usually includes

Most apps for small businesses are made of similar parts. In the first call we go through which ones you need now and which can wait.

  • sign-in with email or an Apple or Google account
  • bookings, orders or requests with a calendar of free slots
  • push notifications when something changes, such as a confirmed booking
  • card payments in the app through Stripe
  • maps and location, including background tracking where needed
  • a web admin panel for you and your staff
  • Croatian and English versions, or other languages your users need

Cross-platform or native

There are two routes. A cross-platform app has one codebase for iOS and Android. For Rent-a-Clean I used React Native with Expo, next to a Next.js web platform that shares the same server and the same rules.

A native app is written separately for each system: Swift and SwiftUI for iPhone, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android. I chose that route for TacLink 2, because the app has to send its location reliably with the screen locked and keep a Bluetooth link between phones.

For most business apps, cross-platform is enough and easier to maintain. You get my recommendation once I know what the app has to do.

How the work goes

  • A free first call: what the app solves, who uses it and what it needs on day one.
  • Scope of the first version: a list of screens and features, with the rest moved to a later release.
  • Design of the main screens, so you see the app before any code is written.
  • Development in short steps, with test builds you install on your own phone.
  • Testing on real iPhone and Android devices, not only in a simulator.
  • Release on the App Store and Google Play: listing text, screenshots and the Apple and Google review.
  • Maintenance: new iOS and Android versions, fixes and new features.

Work you can open on your phone

Rent-a-Clean is a platform for booking cleaning services that I built for a client: web, iOS and Android, with bookings, partner offers, payments and notifications. TacLink is my own product, a live tactical map for airsoft and milsim that keeps working without signal over a Bluetooth mesh. Both have a page describing how they were built.

Who I work with

Mostly small businesses and founders: cleaning services, holiday rental owners, companies that still take orders by phone, and people with an idea for a new app. I work remotely, so location is not a requirement, and I am glad to work with clients outside Croatia in English.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to build a mobile app?
It depends on the number of screens, user types, payments and connections to other systems. After the first call you get a phased plan and an estimate for the first version. The smaller the first version, the sooner it reaches the stores.
Do I need iOS and Android from the start?
Usually yes, because your users are on both. A cross-platform app covers both without doing the work twice. If most of your users are on one system, it can make sense to start there.
Who publishes the app on the App Store and Google Play?
I handle the release: builds, listing text, screenshots and any questions from the Apple and Google review. I recommend that the developer accounts are in your company's name, so the app stays yours. I help you set them up.
What happens after release?
The app needs maintenance. Apple and Google ship new system versions every year, and users ask for changes. We agree on maintenance up front, and the person who wrote the app does it.
Can I get a web version as well?
Yes. A mobile app often comes with a public website, an admin panel or a full web app. Rent-a-Clean's web and mobile apps share one server, so users see the same data wherever they sign in.
How much does app development cost?
The price depends on scope, so I do not publish packages. The article on app development cost explains what drives the price and how to keep the first version small. You get a concrete quote after the first call.
